Native Plants through a Modern Lens

Erumpent Wildflower Meadows

A field of Clarkia amoena (from seed) and mature Manzanita 'Dr. Hurd' brighten the steep front yard of a modern residence in Santa Clara County. Nice view from up here. Plantings of Manzanita 'Dr Hurd,' Clarkia, and assorted penstemons flank the front entry. Drought-tolerant plantings above the driveway: manzanita and Clarkia. These native plants require no supplemental irrigation. The rain is enough. Clarkia and Manzanita: a highly attractive pairing. The riot of wildflowers continues all the way back to the road. The colorful Clarkia lines the path all the way to the back yard. Secluded wildflower bliss.
Foundation plantings of Manzanita anchor wildflower meadows of Farewell-to-Spring (Clarka amoena) and others.
